Bethany College proudly presents the 2023 Messiah Festival Juried Student Art Exhibition, featuring works of art created by talented Bethany art majors. The exhibition showcases ceramics, drawings, jewelry, paintings, photography, printmaking, and sculpture and will continue through April 10 in the Mingenback Gallery. The awards ceremony, held on Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the gallery, announced the following winners:

  • Best of Show: “Depressing Daisies” by Taryn Stout, a senior pre-professional art therapy major from Sterling, Kansas. 
  • Best of 2D: “Queen Bee” by Katie Buchanan, a junior art education major from Salina, Kansas. 
  • Best of 3D: “Beauty in Death” by Caitlyn Myers, a junior art education and studio art major from Mountain City, Texas. 
  • Best of Junior/Senior: “Statue” by Gavin Sutton, a senior accounting, business administration, and finance major from Salina, Kansas.
  • Best of Freshman/Sophomore: “Shades of Green” by Riley Ahlstedt, a freshman art education major from Lindsborg, Kansas.
  • Best of Digital: “Wild Lip Sync” by Indigo Guise, a senior video game design and 3D computer animation major from Salina, Kansas.

“These students are wonderful representatives of the Art and Digital Media Department and Bethany College. All the pieces submitted to the annual Messiah Art Exhibition represent our students’ hard work, passion, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of our students and the continued community support of the arts at Bethany College.

The Mingenback Gallery is free and open to the public on weekdays, Palm Sunday, and Easter weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
