The Messiah Festival of the Arts provides an exciting apprenticeship opportunity to high school string players in the area. One student in each string section works closely with our principal musicians to receive coachings on Baroque style and on Handel’s “Messiah.” They then perform as a full member of the Bethany Oratorio Society Orchestra on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020!
For the 2020 season, there will be no audition for the selection process. We are looking for a maximum of eight students area for a double quartet consisting of four violins, two violas, and two cellos. Participants will need to commit to four rehearsals with the principal string leaders of the Oratorio Orchestra (dates to be determined to best fit everyone’s schedule), three rehearsals with the full orchestra and chorus (March 1, March 15, March 29), plus the performance Easter Sunday afternoon (April 12). For the performance, the students will be seated with a veteran player.
